Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council is being urged to contact the NRA to push for road safety improvements on the N17 following a fatal crash at the weekend.
Mike Ward from Lissadyra, Tuam died following a two-car crash near Cloonmore Bridge at around 2.20am on Saturday.
Tuam councillors have paid tribute to Mike Ward, describing him as a hardworking man who was hugely respected in the town.
Councillor Donagh Killilea says he asked the council six months ago to address a number of dangerous junctions along the N17, including the Cloonmore junction.
He says now is the time to put pressure on the National Roads Authority to act.
