Galway Bay fm newsroom – A candlelit vigil in memory of the Irish students who were killed in a balcony collapse in Berkeley, California will take place in the city this evening.
It’s organised by a small group of Galway people to commemorate the 6 students who lost their lives.
The tragedy happened in the early hours of last Tuesday morning, during a party at an apartment to celebrate a 21st birthday.
A number of young people were standing on the balcony on the fourth floor when it collapsed.
5 Irish students and an Irish-American relative of one of the students were killed while several more were seriously injured and remain in hospital.
A vigil will take place at 9 this evening at Eyre Square to coincide with a similar vigil being held in Berkeley.
