Galway’s Oireachtas members have been criticised for failing to attend a recent meeting organised by the County Council to discuss issues affecting the county.
County Cathaoirleach Peter Roche says the turnout at the meeting to discuss a range of concerns, from housing to flood mitigation, was very disappointing.
He says Deputies Micheál Kitt and Seán Kyne, and Senators Hildegarde Naughton and Michael Mullins were the only representatives to attend the meeting on time.
Senators Fidelma Healy Eames and Trevor O’ Clochartaigh arrived late and missed a lengthy presentation – while Galway’s seven remaining TDs and one senator were absent and offered no explanation.
Cathaoirleach Peter Roche says it was a missed opportunity for the Oireachtas members to engage with the council.
