Met Eireann says Storm Eva will be a short lived event this evening.
Shortly after 5pm, a gust of 107km/h was recorded at Mace Head, while wind speeds were averaging 75km/h.
Two weather warnings are in place as high winds are expected across the country during the afternoon and evening.
An orange alert is in place for Galway, Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry, where gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour are likely between 4pm and 10 o’clock tonight.
A yellow alert for wind is in place for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.
