Galway Bay fm newsroom – Displaced Traveller families who have set up a controversial encampment in Knocknacarra are working with the City Council in a bid to move to a more suitable location.
The encampment near Millar’s Lane and the Hibernia building has caused disruption in recent days, as the road where the caravans are parked is partially blocked.
As a result, scheduled car, bus and truck driving lessons and tests are at risk of cancellation.
It’s understood that 20 adults and 15 children are currently living at the illegal site.
Speaking to Keith Finnegan, Margaret O’Riada from Galway Traveller Movement says the families involved are working with the City Council in a bid to find a solution.
