Galway Bay fm newsroom – 37 special needs assistants have been approved for primary and secondary schools in Galway.
The increase announced by government today will bring the number of SNAs in Galway to 577.
The changes will be implemented in September when the number at primary school level will increase from 400 to 422.
At second level, the figure will increase from 139 to 154.
Resource teaching hours are also set to increase by over 375 this September.
Galway West Fine Gael TD Sean Kyne says the additional allocations will mean students have the correct support they need.
