Galway Bay fm newsroom – The man who died in a road traffic crash on the N65 near Loughrea has been named locally as Kieran Flannery.
The single vehicle incident occurred at Ballydoogan, near the junction of the R446 with the N65, at around 4pm yesterday.
Mr. Flannery, a Gurtymadden native aged in his 80s and well known in the Loughrea community, was fatally injured when his car left the road and crashed into a tree.
He was the only occupant of the car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe where a post mortem examination is due this weekend.
