Galway Bay fm newsroom – The county council has passed new bye-laws for car parks in Cleggan.
The new laws will regulate the main car park and the Head of the Pier car park.
User permits will be issued un respect of vehicle owners who work on a vessel for more than 183 days per year, which uses the Main Pier in Cleggan as its base for more than 270 days per year.
The overall number of Cleggan Harbour User Parking Permits will be 14.
If the number of people who qualify for a permit exceeds 14, the council will liaise with vessel owners regarding the appropriate distribution of the 14 permits.
The new bye-laws will come into operation on June 27th and an official opening of the carpark will take place on June 7th.
Councillor Eileen Mannion says it will improve the lives of locals and visitors in Cleggan.
