Galway Bay fm newsroom – The long awaited Galway city outer bypass has been highlighted as a key construction project which would deliver returns for the State.
The Construction Industry Federation has highlighted the long awaited infrastructure in its pre-budget submission to Government.
Last year, the draft route selection report for the N6 Galway City Transport Project was published, and represented the half-way mark in the process.
Roughly 41 houses would be demolished if the plans for a city bypass go ahead.
In its pre-budget submission to Government, the CIF highlights the project for its potential to deliver returns for the State.
Others noted by the construction body include the western transport corridor link and Shannon water supply scheme.
According to the Irish Times, the CIF argues that the Government must renew extensive investment in infrastructure in order for Ireland to compete internationally for jobs.
It’s also proposed the establishment of an independent infrastructure commission to prioritise spending.
