Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway Chamber has backed calls to move UHG to the Merlin Park Hospital site.
The proposal has received growing support in recent months, as UHG remains in a near-constant Code Black situation.
Today, there are 60 people on trolleys or in over-capacity wards awaiting admission.
Health Minister Simon Harris is likely to face serious questions on the matter when he visits UHG on Monday.
Galway Chamber says Merlin Park has ample land, access and suitability to support the development of a major acute hospital.
President Conor O’Dowd says it’s the logical solution.
