Galway Bay fm newsroom – There needs to be a coordinated policy on how to deal with island issues according to Comharchumann Forbartha Árann.
A delegation from Inis Mór made a presentation to an Oireachtas Committee last evening about the ferry crisis, which could leave the islands without marine travel to the mainland from January.
Island Ferries Teo is currently in talks with the county council to try and resolve the current impasse over a ferry service to Kilronan.
The winter service ceased last month over issues including passenger levies but was temporarily re-instated a week later to allow discussions to take place.
Cathy Ní Ghoill from Inis Mór Co-op and Island Federation told Keith Finnegan that there needs to be a coordinated approach to dealing with islands.
