Two hill walkers have been brought to safety after they became stranded on the Twelve Bens mountain range in Connemara overnight.
Galway Mountain Rescue was tasked to the scene at 11.20 last night and managed to make mobile contact with the men who were unsure of their location.
An attempt was made to locate their position using a SARLOC GPS mobile tracking system, however this failed due to poor signal strength in the area.
Two search teams were then deployed and eventually located the pair at 4am.
Ronan Concannon of Galway Mountain Rescue said weather conditions made the search quite challenging.
