Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are fears that the ‘cash for gold’ industry is leading to increased numbers of burglaries across Galway.
Tuam area councillor Mary Hoade says the industry, which pays out cash in exhange for unwanted gold items, needs to be urgently regulated.
She says a recent spate of burglaries across the county could be linked to the trade, as items of jewellery are often targetted by thieves.
Councillor Hoade says the government needs to take action.
