Galway Bay fm newsroom – The NRA and the OPW are being urged to reconsider a plan for flood works in Kiltiernan.
A proposal for the works failed to meet cost benefit analysis criteria.
Loughrea area councillor Joe Byrne says the proposal was submitted to the OPW by the local authority and is based on the Jennings O Donovan report compiled in 2010.
He says OPW criteria means small works should not exceed 247 thousand euro, however this plan involves a spend of 317 thousand euro.
The Fine Gael councillor is now calling on the OPW and the NRA who is leading the motorway project to fund the 60 thousand euro balance.
He says it’s vital for the area.
