Galway Bay fm newsroom – The City Council should reduce the rate of Local Property Tax by 15% to help deal with rising poverty and deprivation across the city.
That’s according to the Galway People Before Profit Alliance, which says a siginificant number of local authorities around Ireland have already cut the tax.
Councils across the country have until the end of this month to inform the government if they wish to reduce or increase the LPT by up to 15%.
Galway PBPA spokesperson Dette McLoughlin says Galway City Council has previously voted to retain the 15% rate – but a cut is now badly needed.
