Galway Bay Fm newsroom – Four areas of County Galway that suffered severe damage during heavy flooding in recent years will have public consultation days hosted by the Office of Public Works (the OPW) this week and next.
The public consultation days will start in Kinvara’s Merriman Hotel from 3 to 8 pm this Monday (June 22nd) while on Monday week (June 29th) a similar meeting will take place in the Station house Hotel, Clifden also from 3 to 8 pm.
On Tuesday week (June 30th) similar public consultation meetings will take place in Corofin’s Dr Duggan Hall and at The Courthouse, Oughterard with both also scheduled to go on from 3 to 8 pm.
The purpose of these four Galway meetings by the Office of Public Works is to carry out public consultations in relation to the draft flood maps that the OPW have produced.
The OPW already held a public consultation day at the end of 2014 to seek feedback on its flood maps, and the officials are returning to the various Galway communities to discuss potential options for managing flood risk.
