Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway Senator is demanding a debate with Minister Heather Humpreys over a multi-million euro budget underspend in her department.
Senator Trevor O’ Clochartaigh says the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has returned 8 million euro from its budget to central government.
He says that any budget excess is totally unacceptable considering the high number of groups crying out for much needed funding.
The Sinn Fein Senator says serious questions need to be asked of the management and leadership of the Department.
Senator O’ Clochartaigh says the situation is simply not good enough – and he wants the Minister to explain the underspend.
