Galway Bay fm newsroom – Construction will begin next year on a new sewerage plant in Athenry.
Consulting engineers have been appointed to progress the plans for the plant after the government ringfenced 11 million euro for the project.
Irish Water has confirmed that the scheme is included in its Capital Investment Plan for 2014-2016, and construction will begin before the end of 2016.
Senator Lorraine Higgins says the plant is essential to the future development of the town.
