Galway Bay fm newsroom – Judgement has been delivered in the case regarding the delivery of a social inclusion programme in Connemara.
Galway County Council awarded the contract for the SICAP programme to Galway Rural Development in March of last year – a decision Forum Connemara claimed was flawed in law.
The High Court has found that there was no error in relation to the decision taken by the committee.
Prior to the decision to award the running of the programme to Galway Rural Development in March of last year, Forum Connemara had delivered the SICAP programme.
SICAP – or Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme – is the successor programme to the Local and Community Development Programme, or LCDP.
In his judgement at the High Court, Mr. Justice Hedigan refused all reliefs sought by Forum Connemara in their legal challenge against the decision of the Galway County Local Community Development Committee.
During his judgement, the court outlined that it’s findings included that there was no error in relation to the decision of the committee to award the running of the programme to Galway Rural Development.
The applicant has a period of 14 to 21 days in which to appeal the judgement.
