Galway Bay fm newsroom – Coillte has given assurances that the proposed sale of 26 hectares of woodland near Clarinbridge will not result in the development of the site.
That’s according to Oranmore/Athenry Fianna Fail councillor Martina Kinanne who she says the potential buyer has informed the semi-state body that there is no intention to develop the property.
Councillor Kinnane says Coillte received an expression of interest in late March to purchase the woodland at Kilcornan and subsequently advertised the land, which is not subject to planning permission, for sale by private treaty.
Local residents have raised concerns over the sale of the site on the Athenry Road – with potential flooding and the possible impact on the ecosystem among their key concerns.
Councillor Kinnane says Coillte is confident that the land will not be developed when it’s sold.
