Galway Bay fm newsroom – Ballinasloe area councillors are being urged to bring forward suggestions for schemes under the Low Cost Accident programme.
It’s part of the County Council’s drive to improve road safety across the county.
At this week’s meeting of the Ballinasloe municipal district, councillors raised a number of local road safety concerns.
Director of Services Liam Gavin is advising councillors to bring forward a list of small improvement schemes up to the value of 20 thousand euro for consideration under the Low Cost Accident plan.
It’s hoped dangerous bends, poor sightlines and sites where accidents occur regularly can be made safe with minimal cost to the local authority.
Earleir this week, the council unveiled its Community Involvement Scheme programme for 2015, which will see 36 road safety schemes carried out with a 340 thousand euro allocation from the council.
