Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Minister for Transport is being urged to provide funds to improve safety at level crossings on the Galway to Athenry rail line.
Iarnród Éireann is looking at ways to upgrade the level crossing system across the country.
Priority will be given to junctions which do not have automatic gates where the user must open and close the gates themselves.
Fianna Fáil, Galway West T.D, Éamon Ó Cuív says he’s particularly concerned about the crossing at Mountain West, Derrydonnell, Oranmore.
Deputy Ó Cuív says it’s important that Minister Donohoe provides funding to make the level crossings safer.
