Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway has surpassed EU targets for electrical waste management.
According to the compliance scheme known as ‘WEEE Ireland,’ almost 16 hundred tonnes of electrical waste was collected in Galway in 2014.
WEEE Ireland organises the environmental management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
The statistics also show that Galway has surpassed the European recycling targets per person according to the weight of the waste.
However WEEE Ireland has also highlighted that 1 in 4 homes are still putting electrical waste in the rubbish bin.
