Galway Bay fm newsroom – An hearing is underway at the Labour Relations Commission this afternoon over a pay dispute involving Brothers of Charity and Ability West staff in Galway and Roscommon.
IMPACT trade union claims so-called ‘twilight’ payments are owed to around 400 care workers for over a decade amounting to almost 7.5 million euro.
Earlier this year, the Health Service Executive said agreement had been reached to pay unsocial hours to designated staff from January of this year.
However IMPACT says staff at the Brothers of Charity and Ability West still want the wages they’re entitled to.
A meeting between both sides is underway at the LRC this afternoon.
Members of IMPACT have already voted unanimously in favour of industrial action.
Phased industrial action will begin tomorrow if no agreement is reached today.
This will involve the non co-operation of staff for clerical duties.
