Galway Bay fm newsroom – The detailed route selection report for the controversial city bypass corridor will be published in six weeks time.
The extensive document will detail how the decision to select the preferred route was arrived at.
Last month landowners located along the preferred route were presented with the summary route selection – this was a scaled down version of all the information available to the design team at the time.
It revealed that 41 such landowners may face losing their homes, while a further 10 are to be given an option to sell.
Homes facing demolition include 3 in Barna, 1 on the Ballymoneen Road, 9 in Dangan and Bushy Park, 1 in Menlo and 7 in Castlegar.
The preferred route concerns a 150 metre wide corridor over 16 kilometres.
The detailed route selection report is expected to run to over one thousand pages and is due to be published on the n6galwaycity.ie website in five to six weeks time.
It will detail how the decision was arrived at, referring to environmental studies and traffic modelling.
The document is not a statutory document but will form the basis of discussion and analysis in areas such as a future oral hearing.
Michael Timmins is Senior Engineer with the Project Team.
Meanwhile, consultation is ongoing between ARUP consultants and landowners with meetings held on a daily basis.
This will feed into the refinement and development of the scheme as further information is gathered.
